Description
This creamy and vibrant avocado salsa is packed with fresh cilantro, zesty lime, and a touch of spice. It’s perfect as a dip for tortilla chips, a topping for tacos, or a drizzle over grilled meats and seafood.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados, peeled, pitted, and diced
- 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves, roughly chopped
- 1 small jalapeño, seeded and chopped (optional, for a spicy kick)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup water (adjust for desired consistency)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for extra flavor)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional Add-Ins
- 1/4 cup diced red onion (adds a sharp, zesty flavor)
- 1 tomatillo, husked and chopped (for a tangy, authentic twist)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (for a hint of smokiness)
Instructions
Prepare Ingredients
Dice the avocados and set them aside. Rinse and chop the cilantro, removing any large stems.
Blend the Salsa
In a blender or food processor, combine the avocados, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, olive oil, and water. Add the cumin, salt, and pepper to taste.
Adjust Consistency
Blend until smooth and creamy. Add more water if a thinner consistency is desired. Taste and adjust seasoning with more lime juice, salt, or pepper, as needed.
Serve and Enjoy
Transfer the salsa to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, burrito bowls, or as a drizzle over grilled chicken or fish.
Notes
- For extra tang, substitute half of the lime juice with fresh lemon juice.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days (press plastic wrap directly on the salsa to prevent browning).
- If you prefer a chunkier salsa, mash the ingredients together with a fork instead of blending.
