Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Bread:

  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup yellow onion, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup water

For Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat the Oven:

  • Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Prepare the Garlic Bread:

  • Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  • Mix softened butter with garlic salt, then spread evenly over the cut sides of the bread.

3️⃣ Cook the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onions over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink.
  • Drain excess grease.
  • Stir in garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, salt, pepper, and water.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

4️⃣ Assemble the Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread:

  • Place the garlic bread halves on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over both halves.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese generously on top.

5️⃣ Bake & Melt the Cheese:

  • Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

6️⃣ Garnish & Serve:

  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  • Slice and serve warm!

Notes

  • Want extra crisp? Toast the garlic bread in the oven for 5 minutes before adding the filling.
  • Make it spicy! Add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • Prefer a different cheese? Swap mozzarella for provolone or pepper jack for a twist.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for best texture.
