Jalapeño Popper Bites

  • Author: Andrew Recipes

Description

Jalapeño popper bites are a fun and easy appetizer that captures all the creamy, spicy, and cheesy flavors of traditional jalapeño poppers in a bite-sized form. With a creamy cheese filling, a bit of heat from the jalapeños, and a crisp golden coating, these are perfect for parties, game day snacks, or even a quick finger food to impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
4 strips of cooked bacon, crumbled
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs
Oil for frying

Instructions

1 In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.

2 Scoop out small portions of the mixture using a spoon or small cookie scoop and form into bite-sized balls. Place the formed balls on a tray and freeze for about 20 to 30 minutes until firm.

3 Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Roll each chilled popper bite in flour, then dip in egg, and coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

4 Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully fry the bites in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

5 Let them cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed on their own or served with ranch dressing or a dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

You can adjust the heat by using more or fewer jalapeños or by including the seeds for extra spice. These bites can be made ahead and frozen before frying, making them ideal for entertaining. Try using pepper jack cheese for an extra flavor boost, or swap bacon for cooked sausage for a twist.
