Description

This Crockpot Cheesesteak Potato Casserole is a hearty, cheesy, and comforting dish that combines the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with tender potatoes. Perfect for a no-fuss meal, this slow-cooked casserole is a family favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or shaved steak
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cups diced potatoes (peeled if desired)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Brown the Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or shaved steak until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.

2️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables: Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

3️⃣ Prepare the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

4️⃣ Layer the Ingredients: In the crockpot, create layers in the following order:

  • Half of the diced potatoes
  • Half of the beef mixture
  • Half of the shredded cheese
  • Half of the soup mixture

5️⃣ Repeat Layers: Add the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, cheese, and soup mixture in the same order.

6️⃣ Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or until the potatoes are tender and fully cooked.

7️⃣ Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy this warm, cheesy, and flavorful casserole!

Notes

Use Shaved Steak for Authentic Cheesesteak Flavor – Ground beef works too, but thinly sliced steak gives it a true Philly cheesesteak taste.
Swap the Cheese – Try using provolone or Monterey Jack for a different cheesy twist.
Make it Spicy – Add ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños for some heat!
Storage – Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheating – Warm in the microwave or oven at 350°F until heated through.
