  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style or panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Cooking oil (for frying)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Cheese: If desired, cut the mozzarella sticks in half for shorter pieces. Keep them whole if you prefer the traditional size.

2️⃣ Set Up the Dredging Station:

In a shallow bowl, add the flour.

In a second bowl, beat the eggs.

In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with dried oregano and garlic powder.

3️⃣ Coat the Mozzarella Sticks:

Dredge each stick in the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated.

Dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off.

Roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until evenly covered. Repeat for all sticks.

4️⃣ Freeze the Sticks: Arrange the coated sticks on a plate or baking sheet and place them in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. This prevents the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.

5️⃣ Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep pan, heat about 1 inch of cooking oil over medium heat. The oil is ready when a breadcrumb dropped in sizzles immediately.

6️⃣ Fry the Mozzarella Sticks: Fry the sticks in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 1–2 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.

7️⃣ Drain Excess Oil: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried sticks to a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil.

8️⃣ Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm with your favorite marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
